PNP Region 6 starts re-greening activity

ILOILO CITY, Feb. 9 (PIA6) – Over a hundred police officers from the Police Regional Office-6 (PRO) participated in a tree planting activity in Sitio Balik, Bgy, Leong, Cabatuan, Iloilo recently.
The activity was part of the nationwide Philippine National Police re-greening project dubbed “Pulis Makakalikasan: 10 Milyong Puno Pamana sa Kinabukasan," to contribute to the national government’s program to re-green the country.
PRO-6 Information Officer Police Sr. Inspector Sally Manuel, said the project calls on every police personnel to plant 10 million trees nationwide in a year, that is six trees per month, or 72 per year, starting February 1.
Manuel said the activity is in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and its convergence partners, the Department of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform.
The project, Manuel added, will be monitored through a “Pulis Individual Tree Planting Scorecard” and a “Unit Tree Planting Compliance Report” to be submitted every month to the higher headquarters.
The initial activity was led by PRO-6 Dep. Regional Director for Administration, Police Chief Supt. Ernesto A. Tesoro, Jr., Deputy Regional Director for Operations, Police Sr. Supt. Manuel B. Felix, Chief, Regional Directorial Staff, Police Sr. Supt. Wesley A. Barayuga, Iloilo Provincial Police Office Director, Police Sr. supt. Gil Lebin, and Cabatuan Mayor Robert Maroma.
